Product Description

The Apollo crib mattress with edge clips mattress is a quality organic mattress with a value price. It has layers of organic cotton and Pure Grow Wool batting that are single needle quilted to an organic cotton fabric mattress cover. Our organic cotton is long staple and hand - picked (no vegetation). Our pure wool is sheared off healthy, happy organically raised sheep. These high quality materials are what set our mattresses apart from the less quality mattresses made from inferior U.S. cottons and wools. We use wool processed organically so that you know there are no extraneous chemicals or fibers. Most "organic" wool is processed in plants that process other fibers, so it gets chemicals and fibers in it.

The 260 elliptical coils give even, firm support to provide a comfortable and safe sleeping surface for your baby while reducing pressure points. This model also has edge guards so that the mattress will not compress in the corners if your little one sits on the edge, making it a great choice if you plan to use it for a toddler bed in the future.

Firm mattresses are safest but no matter what type of mattress you use, remember to always put your baby to sleep on their back to reduce the risk of SIDS.

We recommend using a pure grow wool puddle pad to protect the mattress from moisture.

Meets all government fire safety standards and CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) guidelines for safety.

These mattresses are made to the scrict standards of the National Association of Organic Mattress Industry (NAOMI). These standards include:

1. Must be free of synthetic fabrics
2. No fabrics may be treated with any chemicals suspected of being toxic, even at low levels
3. All wool must be from sheep raised according to organic standards
4. Wool must be processed according to organic standards and be free of Polyester fibers. This requires that the wool is processed at a facility that does not process polyester or chemically laden cotton batting
5. Any wool used must be tested free of arsenic and lead
6. All inner, hidden fabrics and fibers, must be certified according to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards)
7. All cotton batting used must be certified organic and processed according to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards)
8. Any other natural fibers used must be certified organic (cotton, silk).
9. Fibers used must also be processed according to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards), no chemical processing allowed
10. Any rubber used must be tested free of benzene, toluene, pthalates, SBR, petroleum additives, formaldehyde, arsenic, lead at under .001 ppm (part per million)
11. Any glue used must be free of formaldehyde, phenolated compounds and must be disclosed

Why should I buy an organic crib mattress?

An organic crib mattress is the foundation for a healthy nursery. Babies spend about 60% of their first year sleeping so please don't put your baby to sleep on a cheap vinyl mattress which releases toxic chemicals into the air surrounding your baby. Vinyl mattresses contain chemicals including PVC, PBDE, arsenic and other chemicals you would not want to expose your baby.
