Some may be primarily looking for better health while others may choose organic for environmental concerns. What ever your motive for choosing organic, both the individual and the planet will benefit. In fact, we cannot separate our health from the health of the planet. Our survival is tied to mutual respect for each other and for the Earth. It is not showing us respect when chemicals are not tested thoroughly before being put on the market and then are later found to have health implications. It is not respectful to dump toxic chemicals into rivers and streams that will eventually find their way into our drinking water and food supply. Unfortunately these are the times we are living in. When I hear the environmental scandals unfolding and the latest chemical determined to cause cancer on the evening news, I used to feel anger toward the parties responsible or the government agencies who failed to protect us. While I still feel that they must take responsibility for their actions, I realized that so must I. As a consumer, I have the choice not to purchase merchandise from companies whose products contain chemicals detrimental to the health of ourselves, our children and our planet. Since you are either part of the problem or part of the solution, I was part of the problem.
